Date: July 25, 2021
To all the
Saints of God,
Grace
and peace be unto all the Saints of God around the World. As this
Coronavirus Pandemic continues, we are continually reminding the Saints of
God that we are obeying the magistrates and following the guideline of the
health and governmental authorities for the safety of all people.
Health
authorities and
governmental officials continue to strongly encourage people to wear face
coverings in public gatherings and use social distancing, wash your hands,
and get tested to help stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. In
some places wearing face mask is mandatory in indoor public spaces.
· As
of July 22, 2021, the City of Atlanta, Georgia remains in Phase 4 of the
Reopening Plan.
· Social
distancing is recommended to control the spread or for individual safety.
Gatherings with face mask and social distancing are allowed.
· Covid-19
vaccinations in Georgia are offered to everyone 12 years of age and
older. Note: Pfizer is the only COVID vaccine currently approved for
children aged 12 and older.
We are
continuing limited in-person services with face mask, social distancing, and
temperature checks. We are also continuing online services through Zoom,
Facebook, and YouTube. In-person Baptism and prayer service are available
by attending our local service on site, attending our services on Zoom
Service, or emailing your request to:
As
we obey the Magistrates, we have complete faith that God will continue to
hear our prayers and provide a way for us through these uncertain times.
Romans
13:2-4 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no
power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
TITUS 3:1-2
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey
magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be
no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
This
week’s encouraging words of growth focuses on:
Men Ought
Always To Pray, And Not To Faint …! (Part 3) (Forty Day Fast)
By Apostle
Dennis G. Smith
For those who might ask themselves the question,” When shall I pray?
What time of the day should I pray? Also for those who only think it
necessary to pray in times of trouble or in times of grief we say that the
Bible teaches all believing Apostolic Christians to include prayer everyday
in your life. In the morning at your wakening hour and throughout your
daily scheduled activities in your life. This is the reason why there so
many types of prayers offered such as morning meditation, grace or prayer
over our breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, or midnight supper. Then our
prayers throughout the day and our prayer at bedtime before we fall asleep.
We continually offer prayers for our daily success in life and intercessory prayers
for the
success of others.
Colossians 4:1- 5 Masters,
give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also
have a Master in heaven. Continue
in prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Withal praying also for
us, that
God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ,
for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to
speak. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
We are constantly giving thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for is
loving kindness and tender mercy in helping us daily to overcome all sinful
ways and to grow in grace toward others.
1THessolonians 5:17 - 18 Pray
without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you.
In marriage we refrain from sensual physical contact with each other by
agreement of a time when we will give ourselves to fasting and prayer to
keep our relationship with each other and our entire family closer to God
which strengthen our relationship with each other and gives us continual
victory over Satan and his temptations. Many married couple can experience
greater victory over sensual desires and lust if they will continue the
recommended weekly fast that is put forth by many Apostolic Christian
Churches. Usually this it the 4th Day and 6th Day
fast known as Wednesday and Friday which is done every week all the days of
our life. Apostle Shelton also recommended a third day during the week
chosen as an individual fast for personal strength to be included with the
weekly lifelong fast days.
1Corinthians 7:4 - 5 The
wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the
husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one
the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves
to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for
your incontinency.
I must emphasize again that our Lord Jesus Christ encouraged his
disciples to pray in secret in their private rooms not to be seen of men
which is usually taught by most Christian Churches as the Lord’s Prayer and
the Disciple’s Prayer by some for the purpose of establishing a personal
relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ who is God Almighty or coming to
know him as your personal savior.
This does not condemn public prayer but should make all people
understand that prayed should never be use as method for fame or recognition
by crowds of people. Sometimes so-called faith healers abuse the
intercessory prayer for healing for the single purpose of attracting a crowd
to themselves. This is the reason why we have maintained the simple prayer
of anointing everyone with oil in the name of Jesus Christ and asking God to
grant their partition according to his will during our Divine Healing
Services.
This is often emphasized because we know that throughout the history of
the Church, men and crowds have rose up to set themselves up as those who
determine your contact with God with all kinds of cultic demands. When you
know God for yourself you will have the power to resist the demands and
persuasions of wicked dishonest people who may work to make you concede to
gang style religious aptitude for their own person desires seeking a
following of people after themselves and not following the Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. In many cases they are seeking monetary gain, personal fame,
and sometimes political control.
Matthew 6:5 - 13 And
when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to
pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they
may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But
thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy
door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in
secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain
repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for
their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father
knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner
therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us
this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
As we continue our forty days of fasting and prayer, we hope that all
of the Saints are able to choose a time during each day to fast and pray.
We will continue this message in a 6-part
series titled,
" Men
ought always to Pray," a part for each week of our forty days of fasting and
prayer.
We
recognize that people have many different schedules in this modern economy
and may chose different times based on their daily working hours. We
sincerely hope that all will make a time to devote to fasting and prayer.
We
generally start the period of our fast with a song and a prayer, and a
scripture reading from one the Poetic Books of the Bible usually referred to
as Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, or Song of Solomon. Then we anoint
our heads with blessed oil and fast during a chosen time during each day of
this period.
Some
Saints have chosen noon until 4:00pm as a midday fast others may have chosen
a different time in which we perform our normal daily chores or routines or
work schedules and continue the day as normal refraining from food and drink
if we are in an environment that does not rapidly dehydrate us and food only
if we are in a high temp environment that may produce dehydration.
At the
ending of our fasting period, we usually close our fast with a song and a
prayer to conclude our devotion for that day. We usually also read a
passage of scripture from one of the biblical poetic books of Job, Psalms,
Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, or Song of Solomon. We make a genuine effort to
continue this until the conclusion of the forty days of fasting. This
continuous dedication to communication with God gives us greater experience
in the Spiritual Realm. Fasting and prayer is not something that you have
to debate about with people or try to prove to people because there is no
gain in fasting to be seen of men or to appear holy to other
people. Fasting and prayer is about your strength and your individual faith
in God.
We
continue with part of a Message from Apostle S. McDowell Shelton …. “Does
Prayer Really Change Anything?” ………
Does
Prayer Really Change Anything?” (part 3)
By Bishop
S. McDowell Shelton
Our answer to the question, " Does prayer really change
anything," will surely be influenced by the following outstanding Biblical
characters:
1 1. JOB: There
is evidence in the Book of Job that prayer did something for him. Job was
right, but his friends tried to condemn and find fault in him. However, when
it ended up, Job had to pray and offer sacrifices for them. The Lord
rebuked Job's friends; not this only, but his latter end was more blessed
than the beginning. He endured the suffering by waiting the long wait until
his change came. Then he could testify: "I have heard of thee by the
hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee." (Job 42 :5) Job had
heard about God, but after he had suffered and prayed through, he knew God
for himself. There was no more second-hand knowledge. I would strongly
suggest you read the whole book of Job, as it will prove a very good lesson
for you.
2. HANNAH: Does prayer
change anything for women?
I am persuaded, on the basis of evidence, that it does. Here, a woman by
the name of Hannah not only prayed, but told God specifically what she
wanted. In I Samuel 1 : 11, she asks for a man-child and God granted her
petition. Then, what I really love about Hannah, was that after she
received her answer, she did not forget what she promised God ; that ". ..I
will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life." God blessed Hannah
and she gave the child to the Lord all the days of his life. For scriptural
reference, see I Samuel, 1st chapter.
3. HEZEKIAH: Do you
know a man by the name of Hezekiah, or have you heard of him? He shows us
that prayer will add years to a believer's life. Do you want to know the
secret of old age? Prayer! It was time for Hezekiah to die. The message
from God to Isaiah for Hezekiah was quite different after the latter had
offered prayer. At first the command was : Set thine house in order: for
thou shalt die, and not live." But Hezekiah prayed. Then I have heard thy
prayer. there came another message : I have seen thy tears: behold. I will
add unto thy days fifteen years." What a wonderful testimony! (Isaiah
38:1-5)
Hezekiah also had an experience with God when Sennacherib and his mighty
Assyrian army was coming against him—but he prayed. (2nd
Kings 19:20.) They wrote Hezekiah fearful letters which
would have excited him had he not prayed. But he took those letters and
spread them out before the Lord, (2nd
Kings 19:14,) and God gave him the victory. This shows
that prayer can alter something in the slightest detail. No kind of letter
offsets people that pray—only shallow people with no depth or spirituality.
You will find people who are naturally malnutrition: every epidemic that
passes through is contagious to them. You will find someone else who has a
strong constitution and has never been sick a day in their life. The only
thing that was ever wrong with them was the day they died—their heart
stopped beating.
4. JOSHUA: Let us talk
about a man by the name of Joshua. This man's prayer became so effective it
influenced the very elements. Many of us remember and are familiar with the
fact that Joshua stopped the sun, but, my friend, he stopped the moon also.
In fact, if he were to stop the sun, he had to stop the moon. Very few
people are cognizant of this fact. "Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day
when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and
he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou
Moon, in the valley of Ajalon." (Joshua
10:12)
This was not done in a corner, but he believed God so fully, until he said
in the presence of all Israel: "SUN, STAND THOU STILL UPON GIBEON: AND
THOU, MOON, IN THE VALLEY OF AJALON!"
''And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged
themselves upon their enemies. Is
not this written in the book of Jasher? the sun stood still in the midst of
heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day." (Joshua
10:13) The prayers had reached up and the sun obeyed
Joshua's command. It
does not appear from this text that Joshua prayed a long prayer—it was just
a few words spoken by faith.
During the Divine Healing services, we
sometimes anoint people by simply saying "in the name of Jesus Christ". Yet,
they do not feel they are getting a special blessing. What is any stronger
than "in the name of Jesus Christ." That name has all the power. However,
there is something lacking in the individual.
"And there was no day like
that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man:
for the Lord fought for Israel. Joshua 10:14.
5. JESUS THE CHRIST: Did
you know that Jesus Christ, who is God Almighty, showed how prayer can
prepare you to go through the hardest task of life? When you have a
difficult decision to make, the thing to do is pray about it. There will be
times you will not know which way to turn; but pray first for God's guidance
and His strength. There might be a time you will have to tell someone
something and they are very dear to you. This is something that will hurt
them deeply; yet you PRAY. Because Jesus Christ was in the flesh, he had to
come to a great decision. Finally, he said, Nevertheless,
not my will, but thine, be done." (Luke 22:42)
It takes prayer to come to that stage. Most people want their will to be
done. Prayer prepares us for the difficult tasks of life and aid us in
making grave decisions.
May
the Lord Bless you and Keep you and eternally hold you in the center of his
will, may he open your understanding that you will come to know that you
must repent of your sins and be baptized by immersion in water in the Name
of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, then continue in prayer,
tarrying until you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost with the sign
following speaking with other tongues as the spirit gives you
utterances. Then you must leave the principles of the doctrine and go on to
perfection overcoming the love of the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust
of the eyes and the pride of life and continue steadfastly in the Apostle’s
Doctrine remembering always that he that endures until the End, the same
shall be saved. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who is God Almighty.
Amen
With perfect
love,
Apostle Dennis G. Smith

Present
Guidelines for Individual and Businesses in PHASE 4
· Limited
trips outside.
· Wearing
a face mask in some indoor public facilities is a mandate.
· Frequent
hand washing.
· Continue
to practice Social distancing.
· Increased
occupancy in food and retail establishments with social distancing and other
protective measures.
· Begin
phasing in non-essential workers return to on sight working with safety
precautions including social distancing and temperature checks.
· Frequent
cleaning of public and high touch areas
· Small
gatherings with social distancing
· Some
essential and non-essential City facilities and programs may begin to open.
· City
continues to accept special event applications subject to COVID safety
requirements
· Continue
communication with local and State authorities to monitor public health metrics
Social
Distancing guidelines:
·
Social
distancing means staying away from close contact in public spaces. It includes
actions like staying out of places where lots of people gather and maintaining
distance — approximately 6 feet — from others.
·
Social
distancing also includes minimizing contact with people when possible, limiting
nonessential travel, working from home, and skipping social gatherings.
·
All
people should practice social distancing — not just those who are seriously ill
or at high risk.
·
Social
distancing is a proven way to slow the spread of pandemics.
When to Wear a
Mask:
Those who are
staying home and have no close contact with people who are infected with
COIVID-19 do not need a mask most of the time. However, wearing a nonmedical or
homemade mask may be helpful in certain situations or for certain populations.
Wear a Mask when:
· Shopping
at essential businesses, like grocery stores or pharmacies.
·
While
visiting your health care provider.
·
Traveling
on public transportation.
·
Interacting
with customers/clients at essential businesses.
·
When
feeling sick, coughing, or sneezing.
·
In all
public spaces indoors and outdoors.
Because homemade
masks protect everyone else from the droplets created by the wearer, it is
important that as many people as possible wear these masks when leaving their
homes. This helps prevent those who may be infectious but are only mildly
symptomatic or not symptomatic from spreading the virus to others in the
community.
Everyone should
remember the phrase: “My mask protects you; your mask protects me.” By
increasing the overall number of people who are containing their coughs,
sneezes, and other droplets, it will help us control the overall spread of the
virus.
