Ministers of Jesus Christ Assemblies of The Apostolic Faith Atlanta, Georgia - USA Apostle Dennis G. Smith, Pastor and Spiritual Overseer |
Date: September
5, 2021
To all the Saints
of God,
Grace and peace be unto all the Saints of God around the World. As this
Coronavirus Pandemic continues, we are continually reminding the Saints of God
that we are obeying the magistrates and following the guideline of the health
and governmental authorities for the safety of all people.
Health authorities and
governmental officials continue to strongly encourage people to wear face
coverings in public gatherings and use social distancing, wash your hands, and
get tested to help stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. In
some places wearing face mask is mandatory in indoor public spaces.
· As
of September 1, 2021, the City of Atlanta, Georgia remains in the Red Zone due
to high community transmission of Covid-19.
· Social
distancing and face mask are mandatory for gatherings to control the spread of
Covid-19 or for individual safety.
·
Limited
Gatherings to avoid crowding with mandatory face mask and social distancing are
allowed.
· Vaccinations
remains the recommended most effective way to control the spread of Covid-19 by
health authorities.
· Covid-19 vaccinations in Georgia are offered to everyone 12 years of age and older.
Note:
Pfizer is the only COVID vaccine currently approved for children
aged 12 and older.
We are continuing limited in-person services with face mask, social distancing,
temperature checks and Covid-19 testing. We are also continuing online services
through Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube. In-person Baptism and prayer service are
available by attending our local service on site, attending our services on Zoom
or emailing your request to:
info@ministersofjesuschrist.com or prayerrequest@ministersofjesuschrist.com.
As
we obey the Magistrates, we have complete faith that God will continue to hear
our prayers and provide a way for us through these uncertain times.
Romans 13:2-4
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of
God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
TITUS 3:1-2 Put
them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to
be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but
gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
This
week’s encouraging words of growth focuses on:
The One Plan
of Salvation (part 3)
By Apostle
Dennis G. Smith
"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all
in the NAME of the Lord JESUS..." - Colossians 3:17
"Know ye not, that so many of us as were BAPTIZED into
JESUS Christ were baptized into his death?" - Romans 6:3
We must fully understand that we come to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by believing and obedience which is part of the one plan of salvation. We should clearly see that the word “do” refers to the act of performing what has been commanded. So, when a person refuses to perform what has been commanded or required in order to obtain the thing that was promised, they will not get the benefit which was intended.
Most people can readily see and understand that belief and faith is a requirement in the one plan of salvation if a person expects to be saved. So, we can reach a righteous conclusion that if they understand that faith is required and it is not seen as a personal work to earn salvation, then they must also recognize that obeying the commandment of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is not a person work to earn salvation but an act of faith in putting complete trust in the commandments and promises of God Almighty.
We may also conclude that when a person does not obey, then they will not
receive salvation, but according to the word of God they will lost in
everlasting destruction.
2Thessolonians 1:6 - 10 Seeing
it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble
you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord
Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In
flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey
not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be
punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from
the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his
saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among
you was believed) in that day.
Do not be deceived or misled by those that
say you do not need to obey or do anything to be saved by labeling the doctrine
of obeying what the Lord Jesus Christ commanded as "works" to earn salvation. Salvation
is a free gift that we cannot earn through works of righteousness because the
wages of sin is death. But the love of God toward all mankind is
the reason we have an opportunity to be forgiven for our sins. Only
the Love of God has brought forth this marvelous gift. We maintain
good works or charity because they are profitable to all men not as a means to
earn salvation. Helping other people is a blessing to all of
mankind.
Titus 3:3 - 8 For
we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers
lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But
after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by
works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved
us, by the washing washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which
he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified
by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This
is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that
they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain
good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
Without the shedding of Blood there is no remission. Some one had
to pay the ultimate price for sin by death which was paid by the Lord Jesus
Christ.
Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the
law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
We show our faith by our obedience and works of righteousness. We
do not earn salvation by doing good works. But if we have believed
God and are saved by grace through faith, we are careful to maintain good works.
James 2:17 – 26 "Even
so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou
hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I
will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there
is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou
know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father
justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou
how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the
scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed
unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how
that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not
Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and
had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so
faith without works is dead also."
Obedience to God's word is a requirement! If
you do not OBEY His commandments, you are none of His.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
We must believe and obey the Lord Jesus Christ . . .
James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest
well: the devils also believe, and tremble."
The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ paid the price...
Good deeds is what we ought
to do for we were created to do good works, remember that the Lord Jesus said
sell your possession and give to the poor.
Mark 10:21 Then
Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy
way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have
treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Ephesians 2:8 - 10 For
by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift
of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are
his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in them.
Romans 6:22 - 23 But
now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit
unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
By
the law we receive the
Knowledge of sin which reveals to us our unrighteous acts before God and man…it
is will not justify us for the sin that we have committed.
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified
in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
You
will grow in your faith; the Lord Jesus Christ will fill you with the gift of
the Holy Ghost with the sign following speaking in other tongues as the Spirit
of God gives you utterances and you will have a real experience with God
Almighty. Prayer, devotion or singing praise to God Almighty and
Bible reading will bless you, strengthen you and increase your faith in the Lord
Jesus Christ.
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through me’” (John 14:6).
“‘What must I do to be saved?’ And they said,
‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household’”
(Acts 16:30–31).
We can only obtain
salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ because he is the only one who paid the
price…
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness”
(1 Peter 2:24).
Many methods are taught to persuade a sinner to come to the Lord Jesus Christ.
But none of the methods will save a single person if they are not according to
the one plan of salvation. They may give a person a good feeling,
they may bring them to tears, but they will not save a single person.
Methods like raising one’s hand for prayer, going forward to the altar, signing
a card, or shaking the hand of the evangelist may persuade a person to make a
choice or a decision, but there is no salvation until the sinner obeys the one
and only plan of salvation.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John 6:36 - 37 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will
in no wise cast out.
John 5:39 - 40 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
Any method that does not teach or point the way to obeying the one and only plan of salvation will not lead the sinner to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Most methods of attracting people is deceptive when it is not clearly explained that when you raise your hand, you must open your heart and repent or turn from your sinful ways, be baptized correctly in Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and continue in prayer until you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of tongues.
Not only must you come forward to the altar, but you must obey the gospel.
Shaking the hand of the evangelist will never save you. You must obey the
Lord Jesus Christ by acting on your faith in obedience to the one plan of
salvation. Anything short of obedience is simply mental accent
which can be showmanship in the present of a crowd or for recognition which is
not a genuine turn from sinful ways.
Most Churches readily acknowledge that:
Sincerity is
needed but it does not give salvation unless you obey the one and only plan of
salvation. The man who is sincere yet wrong is just as lost as the hypocrite.
God demands that you be both sincere and right to be saved. To depend upon
sincerity is to die in your sins.
Repentance is
a part of salvation, but you must obey the entire plan. Repentance is to be
sorrow for sin and turn away from sinful ways which leads to salvation if you
obey all of the one plan of salvation. You must fully understand that it is not
enough to be sorry for sin. Tears will never save you if you do not obey all of
the plan of salvation.
Conviction of
heart may lead one to the realization that they are lost sinners on their way to
eternal damnation which may make them realize that they need to change, or they
will be lost, but salvation takes place only when they obey the one and only
plan.
Confession of
sin must include obedience to the one and only plan of salvation for it to be of
any real value to save a sinner from eternal damnation.
The one and only plan of Salvation is very clear…
1. REPENT of
your sins. This means to earnestly turn away from all sinful way, and ask the
Lord Jesus Christ to forgive your sins. It does not mean to
confess your sins then go right back to sinning and doing the sinful things that
you did while living worldly lifestyle.
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O
God, thou wilt not despise." - Psalms 51:17
2. Be Baptized by
immersion in water in the NAME of the Lord Jesus Christ
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a MAN
be born AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God." - John 3:3
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a MAN be BORN OF WATER
and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." - John 3:5
"BORN OF WATER" is water baptism in the one and only name of Jesus Christ just
as stated in Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38. Now notice that Apostle
Peter did not say wait until you are genuinely saved before you get baptized as
a symbol of your commitment which is what many of the false teachers are
saying. But he said repent and be baptized for the remission of
sins. You can also see that those who gladly receive his words
were baptized the same day…
Acts 2:36 - 41 Therefore
let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus,
whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this,
they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the
apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For
the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did
he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same
day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
The scripture states, that baptism does now also save us and that he that believe and is baptized shall be saved. There is no point in debating the matter with false teachers when we can read the plain statements.
"...while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved
by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now
save us. . ." I Peter 3:20 - 21
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."
Mark 16:16
3. BE FILLED WITH the
HOLY GHOST with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives
you utterance.
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:4
"For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar
off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call." - Acts 2:39
"And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and
he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son
shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if
he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg,
will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good
gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly
Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Luke 11:9-13
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God” (John 1:12).
Make a commitment right now to obey the one and only plan of
salvation by turning from your sinful ways and praying to God asking him
forgiveness of your Sins. Then come and be baptized by immersion in water in the
Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and receive the
gift of the Holy Ghost with the sign following speaking in other tongues as the
Spirit of God gives you utterances.
4. Then continue steadfastly in the Apostle’s Doctrine.
"THEY WERE ALL
WITH ONE ACCORD IN ONE PLACE" (part 3)
By Bishop S.
McDowell Shelton
"And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it
filled all the house where they were sitting." (Acts 2:2)
**Don't become over-anxious for folks to receive the Holy Ghost. You cannot give
it to them.
We (Bishop Shelton) are the Apostle in the Church, and we cannot give it to
them. The Holy Ghost is a gift that comes from God. Even if we lay
hands on you, and you begin speaking with other tongues, the gift does not come
from us. God ofttimes uses us as the instrument through which the Holy Ghost
comes, but it is still coming from God!
While tarrying for the Holy Ghost, it is not necessary to have lot of excitement and carrying on. That is why when people come in the Church and see folks tarrying for the Holy Ghost-- they think they are mad! Paul told the Church at Corinth—"If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?" (1st Corinthians 14 :23)
The nomenclature "Holy Roller” comes from people thinking that those tarrying
for the Holy Ghost were mad, for it looked as if they were chanting a spell,
saying—"Yeah, yeah; that's it, that's it!" And then the seekers, who you are
tarrying with, pick up that same intonation, or chant-like rhythm and declare
they have the Holy Ghost, when “in reality they have nothing”! Let the Holy
Ghost work by its own power!
Most people do not know how to work with seekers, anyhow. They
make so much noise! It was the Holy Ghost that came as a rushing mighty wind.
Also, when it mentioned that this great occurrence was noised abroad, it was
noised abroad after those in the Upper Room received the gift of the Holy Ghost!
It was not so much noised abroad while they were there waiting for it and
seeking after it, but now that they had gotten the victory—they could have great
joy, they could have the song and the dance!
God is not deaf, neither is God away on a journey. The
loudness with which you call Him when you tarry does not bring the Holy Ghost
any quicker, nor does it ameliorate your situation any. When we hear someone
tarry, we can tell when the sound is offensive, rather than joyful. We
know when it is not from the direction of the Holy Ghost. Even if
the sound is raised and it gets stronger, when it is directed by the Holy Ghost
it becomes sweet. When the voice begins to lift up like a trumpet,
it has the sound of mighty waters! It has the sound of the Holy Ghost! It has
the sound that is coming from the throne of God! It does not have that "sounding
brass and tinkling cymbal" sound.
“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And
there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of
them." (Acts 2:1-3)
You must be careful not to get caught up in false delusions.
Whereas it is our custom that we kneel when we are tarrying for the Holy Ghost,
those folks in the Upper Room were not even kneeling—they were sitting! At the
last Youth Conference, as they were sitting in the congregation. twelve received
the gift of the Holy Ghost as we came and laid hands on them. When Paul met
John's disciples, we do not know what they were doing—whether they were sitting,
standing, or kneeling when they received the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 19:1 - 6 And
it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through
the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto
them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him,
We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And
he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s
baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance,
saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after
him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the
name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon
them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Also, it is just incidental whether you call on the name of
Jesus Christ slow or fast. It is incidental whether you call his name soft or
loud. In fact, you do not even have to call the name of Jesus audibly, or out
loud. The main reason why people call his name audibly is so they won't fall
asleep. But, of course, when you speak in other tongues it, has to be audible,
because we have to hear you speak in tongues as a witness. But what does not change,
and what is not incidental is believing! The
Scriptures speak about they that believed. When you reach that place in faith
when you believe—then you will speak in other tongues as the Spirit gives you
utterance.
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. and began to
speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. And
there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews devout men out of every nation under
heaven. Now when this was noised abroad. the multitude came together and were
confounded because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they
were all amazed and marveled. Saying one to another, Behold, are not all these
which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we
were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and dwellers in Mesoptamia, and
in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia. Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt,
and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and
proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the
wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one
to another, what, mean this?” (Acts 2:1-12)
Yes, they were there out of every nation under the heavens—devout men. And, yes, it was noised abroad, and they heard them speak in their own language and were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another—Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?"
But you (the Apostolic saints) are not just some kind of ordinary religious
people, or devout people (although you are devout), for you know what
the Holy Ghost is; you have seen it! But these people, although they were
devout, did not know what the Holy Ghost was or what was happening; and thus,
they were amazed!
Yes, when the people who came with Peter saw that the Holy
Ghost had fallen on the Gentiles, they were astonished—they were just shocked!
Why was this? Their cultural beliefs had made them to believe that these
uncircumcised Gentiles were dogs, who belonged on the outside; but God had come
and broken down the middle wall of petition. The Holy Ghost was for everyone,
and for every nation! But concerning these things. you should not be amazed,
neither should you be astonished. For it is given unto you to know the mystery.
Acts
2:14 "But Pete standing up with the eleven,
lifted up his voice, and said unto them. Ye men
of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem,
be this known unto you, and hearken to my
words: For
these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the
third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the
prophet Joel; And
it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit
upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young
men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (Acts
2:14-17)
And continuing……” Therefore
let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus,
whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this they
were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the
apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then
Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and
to all that are afar off, even as many as the
Lord our God shall call.
(Acts
2:36-39)
Everybody
under the sun must obey this whole truth that we are preaching. Unless
you obey this one plan of salvation by being baptized in water in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost---speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives you utterance, you are
lost and on you way to hell!
Now may the Lord bless you, many the Lord keep you, may the
Lord preserve your strength. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
who is God Almighty. Amen.
With perfect
love,
Apostle Dennis G.
Smith

Currently the
following groups are eligible for COVID vaccine in Georgia:
Everyone age 12 and older. Note: Pfizer is the only COVID vaccine
currently approved for children aged 12 and older. People younger than 18 years
of age are not authorized to receive either the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson
COVID-19 vaccines.
ONGOING
GUIDANCE for Red Zone
• Vaccination
remains the most effective protection against COVID-19
• Practice social
distancing
• Frequently wash
hands
• Frequent
cleaning of public and high touch areas
• Practice
telework and staggered office schedules where feasible, with safety measures
• Non-essential
City facilities may open to the public. Masking will be mandated for now and the
number of persons indoors may be limited to avoid crowding
Social
Distancing guidelines:
• Social
distancing means staying away from close contact in public spaces. It includes
actions like staying out of places where lots of people gather and maintaining
distance — approximately 6 feet — from others.
• Social
distancing also includes minimizing contact with people when possible, limiting
nonessential travel, working from home, and skipping social gatherings.
• All people
should practice social distancing — not just those who are seriously ill or at
high risk.
• Social
distancing is a proven way to slow the spread of pandemics.
When to Wear a
Mask:
Those who are
staying home and have no close contact with people who are infected with
COIVID-19 do not need a mask most of the time. However, wearing a nonmedical or
homemade mask may be helpful in certain situations or for certain populations. Wear
a Mask when:
• Shopping at
essential businesses, like grocery stores or pharmacies.
• While visiting
your health care provider.
• Traveling on
public transportation.
• Interacting
with customers/clients at essential businesses.
• When feeling
sick, coughing, or sneezing.
• In all public
spaces indoors and outdoors.
Because homemade
masks protect everyone else from the droplets created by the wearer, it is
important that as many people as possible wear these masks when leaving their
homes. This helps prevent those who may be infectious but are only mildly
symptomatic or not symptomatic from spreading the virus to others in the
community.
Everyone should
remember the phrase: “My mask protects you; your mask protects me.” By
increasing the overall number of people who are containing their coughs,
sneezes, and other droplets, it will help us control the overall spread of the
virus.
